What could be the most crucial question asked? Surely there is none more important than this: Where will you spend eternity? This question is perhaps a stirring one and too often left unconsidered. It would be foolish to continue through life saying, ‘I’ll find out when I get there.’

THE GRAVE DOES NOT END IT ALL

"It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27)

Many people are living in the hope that death will end it all; that they will simply cease to exist; and that there is no accountability to God. Jesus Christ, however, told a much different story…

SOME WILL FACE JUDGMENT

"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death"

(Rev. 20:14)

The Bible makes no apologies for Hell. In fact, Jesus spoke a great deal more concerning Hell than He did of Heaven. Many people today believe that Hell does not exist, but God assures us that it does. Others assume that Hell is only for really wicked people such as murderers, rapists and the like. However, the Bible warns us that "the wages of sin is death." This death includes the second death which is Hell.

All sin is an offence to God and as the "Judge of the earth" He must punish it. The Bible plainly states that "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Rom 3:23). We are all deserving of the judgment of God.

SOME WILL ENJOY ETERNITY IN HEAVEN

How is it then that some will go to Heaven while others will not? Is it because some are more moral or because some have not committed crimes as bad as others? Is it because some are more religious than others? The answer is NO! While these things may be important in life, not one of them determines our eternal destiny. The Word of God states, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (I John 5:12).

Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and died an awful death upon a cross. He died "for our sins." He died "that we might have life." Eternal life is a gift of God that cannot be earned by good deeds or religion (Eph 2:8-9). Christ has already paid the price, we must come to God on His terms and receive Jesus Christ as our Saviour.

WHAT MUST I DO?

  1. You must see yourself as a sinner and turn to God with a repentant heart realising that nothing you can do will save you.

  2. You must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; that he died for you; and that He rose again the third day.

  3. You must receive Christ as your Saviour. This is a one-time event when we sincerely call upon Christ and ask Him to come into our heart to be our Saviour.

The Bible promises us that "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"
(Rom 10:13). Call upon Christ today:

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died for my sins and rose again. I now trust His blood for the payment of my sins and call upon you Lord Jesus to come into my life to be my Lord and Saviour, and to give me eternal life according to Your promise. AMEN.
